By James L. Lager. (1978).
Morgan & Morgan. Soft-cover, 8 1/2 x 11", 256 pages, B&W
illustrations. A richly illustrated "road map" through a territory as
fascinating as it is unfamiliar to most owners, collectors, and enthusiasts. Its
subject: the lenses, viewfinders, motors, and other small accessories that were
part of the classic screw mount Leica system between 1925 and 1960. Many of the
accessories discussed and pictured in this authoritative guide were produced in
limited quantities; as a result they are little known. Of special interest are
the chapters devoted to engravings and other markings placed on Leica equipment
indicating purpose, ownership, or even particular sales agencies; Leicas and
accessories made for the German armed forces during World War II, and unusual
screw mounting Leicas, M Leicas, and Leicaflex models, many of which have never
been shown.
